our first Airborne collectible

The Airborne AA chair returns with a unique collector's item: DRAGON FLY
After a first notable appearance at Paris Design Week, the collaboration between designer Marianna Ladreyt and Airborne continued this month at Maison&Objet, marking a new stage in this dialogue between iconic design and contemporary creation.

Conceived as a special capsule collection, this collaboration offers an artistic reinterpretation of the mythical AA chair, a design icon produced by Airborne since 1951. The encounter came about naturally, driven by a shared vision: to create a dialogue between heritage, materials and experimentation, while preserving the requirement of French manufacturing.

The collaboration reveals a unique technique developed by Marianna Ladreyt, inspired by stained glass and created using upcycled beach buoys. A transparent patchwork, composed of superimposed layers sealed under rigid PVC, transforms the armchair into an almost living object. Filtering the light, it projects colorful shadows into the space and offers a sensitive and poetic interpretation of the AA, at the boundary between design, craft, and artwork.

This new chapter gives birth to Airborne Collectible and reaffirms Airborne's commitment to exploring the realm of collectible design, opening its pieces to gallery networks and bespoke creations. This approach runs counter to the mass market, favoring a qualitative, sustainable, and prescriptive style.

The Marianna Ladreyt x Airborne pieces will be available to order in very limited quantities. The collaboration will continue in 2026, hinting at new joint explorations of color, material, and light.
